The Chinese Association of Higher Learning Prepares to set up an Entrepreneurial and Innovative Education Branch

In a recent meeting, top universities and party officials in China met to discuss setting up of the Chinese Association of Higher Education’s Entrepreneurial and Innovative Education Branch. While much effort is being directed to developing innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit this remains an underdeveloped area. What could be the cause of this shortcoming and how could this be improved?

On the morning of March 10th, leaders from the Chinese Association of Higher Education and a large number of Chinese Universities met to discuss the setting up of the Chinese Association of Higher Education’s Entrepreneurial and Innovative Education Branch.

The meeting was presided over by Gao Wenbing, the Party Secretary of the CSU. Other participants included Deputy Secretary Xu Jianjun, Cao Shengli, Special Assistant of the Chinese Higher Education Association and Yu Yuelong, the head of the Students’ Affairs Office.

Participants discussed the objectives of the Entrepreneurial and Innovative Education Branch and the working plan for the next four years. A six point action plan was discussed with an aim to promote entrepreneurial and innovative education in the country. The six action points are –

  • Establish a program for academic exchange
  • Stay updated with the developments in the field
  • Establish a team to study theoretical research in the subject
  • Publicize the findings of the theoretical study
  • Set up a greater number of exchange programs
  • Leverage the advantage of the academic groups
